Overview

ECU password recovery & removal

If you're locked out of a tune, you have two options: password recovery — trying to get the original password back — or password removal, where the lock is taken off the file entirely. We focus on removal because it's reliable and gets you straight back to tuning. You upload your locked .nexmap file, and we return an unlocked copy with the protection stripped out, ready to open and edit in NSP.

It works with every current Nexus and Elite ECU — the full Nexus range (R3, R5, Rebel LS, S2, S3) and the Elite range (550 through 2500) — for tunes that are fully locked or only partially locked (sensors, fuel tuning or ignition tuning). No software to install, no risky guesswork: just a clean, unlocked tune file — with your engine setup read straight from the file as proof before you pay.

Process

How it works

01

Upload

Drag in your .nexmap tune file and leave your email. Your ECU model is optional — we read the rest straight from the file.

02

Instant proof

We open your file on the spot and read the engine setup — capacity, cylinders, aspiration — back to you as proof we're in, and unlock it in the background.

03

Pay & download

Happy with the proof? Pay $50 USD and download your unlocked .nexmap right there — password removed, ready to edit in NSP.

Reasoning

Why tunes get locked — and where we fit in

Password-protecting a tune is completely legitimate, and tuners do it for good reasons. We respect that. Understanding why a file is locked also makes it clear what this service is — and isn't.

🔐

Protecting their IP

A calibration represents hours of skilled work and hard-won knowledge. Locking the file keeps that intellectual property from being copied or shared.

🛡️

Preventing tampering

A lock stops a tune from being quietly altered, helping ensure the calibration a tuner signed off on is the one that stays in the ECU.

Protecting their name

If someone edits a tune and it runs badly, the original tuner can wear the blame. Locking protects their reputation from changes they didn't make.

Where we come in

Sometimes you simply need access to your own tune again. Maybe you can no longer get hold of the tuner who made it, you'd like to work with a different tuner, or you want to make changes yourself. That's what we're here for.

We provide you with an unlocked copy of your .nexmap so you can open and edit it freely. To be clear about what we do: we do not give you the tuner's password, and we do not re-lock tunes after they've been adjusted. We simply remove the protection so the file is yours to work with.

⚠️

Please use this responsibly

Unlocking a tune is a decision to take seriously. Your original tuner may not be happy that their work has been unlocked, and doing so will typically void any warranty or support agreement you have with them. Editing ECU data without knowing what you're doing can lead to a poor — or even engine-damaging — tune. If you're not confident, please work with a qualified professional. Proceed carefully, and only if you understand the changes you're making.

Compatibility

Supported ECUs

Any tune exported from NSP as a .nexmap file is supported. If your ECU isn't listed, upload it anyway — most tunes share the same format.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock a password-protected tune?
Upload your locked .nexmap file here and leave your email. We open it on the spot and read your engine setup back to you as proof we're in, then remove the password protection. Pay $50 USD and download your unlocked tune right away, ready to open and edit in NSP.
Do you give me the password, or an unlocked file?
We provide an unlocked copy of your .nexmap with the password protection removed — we do not hand over the original tuner's password, and we don't re-lock the tune afterwards. You get a file you can open and edit yourself.
Which ECUs and files are supported?
Any tune exported from NSP as a .nexmap file, including Nexus R3, R5, Rebel LS, S2 and S3, and Elite 550, 750, 950, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500. If your ECU isn't listed, upload it anyway — most tunes share the same format.
Can you unlock a partially locked tune (sensors, fuel or ignition only)?
Yes. Whether the whole tune is locked or only sections such as sensors, fuel tuning or ignition tuning, we remove the protection so the full tune is editable again. We detect what's locked automatically when you upload — there's nothing to tick.
How much does it cost and how long does it take?
It's $50 USD, and it's instant. Upload your tune and we read your engine setup back to you on the spot as proof, then you pay and download the unlocked file right there. You only pay once you've seen the proof.
Is my tune file kept private?
Yes. Your file and email are handled privately, stored securely, and only used to complete your unlock. We never share your tune or contact details, and files can be deleted on request.
Will unlocking my ECU void my warranty with my tuner?
Typically, yes. Your original tuner may not be happy that their work has been unlocked, and doing so will usually void any warranty or support agreement you have with them. Only unlock a tune you own, and be careful editing ECU data if you're not confident — a bad tune can damage your engine.
What is a .nexmap file?
A .nexmap is the tune file NSP (Nexus Software Programmer) software saves for Nexus and Elite ECUs. It contains all your calibration data and can be password-protected by the tuner who created it.
